An adidas classic, the grey bomber jacket is characterised by a loose fit gathered into an elasticated waist, raglan sleeves for unrestricted arm movement, in a contrasting colour in some models, and a zipped front fastening leading up to a snug-fitting split crewneck around the throat. Then, there are the small but essential details that complete the look including vertical slit pockets, ribbed cuffs, and a slight curve to the elasticated waist to ensure that the loose fit around the arms and shoulders gathers snugly into the small of the back. What’s more, adidas has added additional features to some of the items in this range of leisurewear classics, just to emphasise the provenance of the garments without damaging their authenticity, namely a vertical zipped chest pocket and a flash of the famous 3-Stripes, or, in the sportswear version, by the addition of vertical waist pleats and an outsize adidas mountain logo in a pearl finish on the back.

To properly channel the bomber jacket vibe and create the iconic silhouette with its nod to the James Dean look from the fifties, and again the bomber jacket revival in the seventies, a soft, supple fabric is required and this is where adidas’ polyester double-knit comes into its own. This fabric is washable and hard-wearing and, best of all, is made from 100% recycled polyester, which fits in perfectly with adidas’ green agenda by reducing the use of unsustainable new resources. Other items in the range are made of a smooth, lightweight, cotton/polyester mix.
